Steeped in tradition — Finished in flame
Centred in the heart of Omaha, we specialise in authentic wood fired Napoletana pizza, crafted from housemade dough, traditional tomato passata, and the highest quality ingredients, true to Italian heritage & excellence
Our garden courtyard tucks you in a charming corner of New Zealand countryside, wafting with fresh herbs and firewood. Unwind with the sunset while our pizzaiolos stretch, dress, and fire your pizza before you. Our open faced kitchen invites everyone to share in our love for Napoletana cooking
With over a decade of refinment, this is where great food and better memories share a moment by the fire
Three decades in hospitality, fuelled by a passion for craft & connection
Founder Rob Roughan has shaped Auckland’s restaurant scene since the 1980s, first with Beresford in Auckland's Beresford Square, and later with Craft, a Richmond Road hotspot in the early 2000s. Known for his attention to detail, soulful cuisine, and an affinity for lively spaces, Rob’s restaurants have always celebrated the bond between food, atmosphere, and the people who share it
After stepping away from Craft, Rob turned his attention to Italy’s Campania region, honing in on the tradition of wood fired Napoletana pizza. Alongside years of culinary practice, Rob also became New Zealand’s exclusive agent for Al Forno Wood Fired Ovens — high performing Italian ovens renowned for their craftsmanship. In the decades that followed, Rob personally installed Al Forno ovens all across Aotearoa, helping spread authentic wood fired pizza throughout the country
In 2008, after relocating to Omaha’s sun-swept coastline, Fired took initial shape as a mobile wood fired catering company. Shortly after, in exhibition for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the Fired Pizza Pod was born — a 40-foot shipping container custom converted to a fully equipped wood fired kitchen, stationed on Princes Wharf to feed the sports fandom in downtown Auckland
Following its public success, the Pod made its way north, settling as the burning hearth of our now-home restaurant. With each passing summer, the Pod glows warmer in the hearts of locals and travelling pizza lovers alike. Golden evenings are better served here
